How does the design process work?

  • Completing our Landscape Questionnaire is a great way to organize and formulate your thoughts about a project.
  • To start the process, we like to meet with you on-site and become more familiar with your needs for the project, the characteristics of the site and how it fits in the surrounding community. This also gives you an opportunity to get to know the designer and to see if our company is a good match for you.
  • Once you give the go ahead on the design process, your designer will begin by creating a scaled base map, using a plot plan provided by you and measurements done by us. Your designer will perform a site analysis and then formulate a concept and create rough drawings that explore scale, appearance and relationships between components in the design. This is called the schematic design. At this point in the process, there is typically a design review with you to make sure that we are on the right track.
  • Once we receive feedback from you on the schematic design, we will continue to refine and develop the design. Specifics of how something will be built and what materials will be used are addressed and costs become clearer.
  • The final design product will typically include a scaled master plan, and accompanying plant key that describes the plantings in more detail and inspirational images.
